DWP MISSION & VISION
DWP IN THE NEWS
DWP MAKES THE STAR'S "TOP 10" WINNERS IN 2020
Star Columnist, Bob Hepburn recently celebrated 2020 with a list of the city's most newsworthy people, businesses & events that successfully rose above the challenges in the face of the Co-Vid pandemic. In praise of DWP, Hepburn wrote, "This Toronto-based group is a prime example of charities that were forced by COVID-19 to pivot and have done so successfully. DWP had held in-person dance classes for seniors with the disease, but quickly switched to free daily online classes. Today, over 700 seniors from across Canada are registered for the classes."
DWP FEATURED ON GLOBAL NEWS!
In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sarah Robichaud has created an online platform for dance and movement. Dancing with Parkinson’s Canada is now offering free on-line live dance classes through Zoom, seven days a week. Their mission is to keep seniors active, connected, and engaged while social-distancing.
Our mission at Dancing With Parkinson's is to provide dance classes and artistic experiences that enrich the lives of people with Parkinson’s Disease, and the lives of their families, friends, and caregivers.
Our vision is to provide a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment where all people with Parkinson's Disease throughout Ontario can explore the potential of their own movement and artistry while experiencing the emotional, cognitive and physical benefits of dancing to music in classes designed for them.
With your help we can continue to help seniors to stay active, healthy, and connected! Please consider making a donation today so that seniors across Canada can continue to dance for free everyday with us!
Prior to the pandemic, DWP offered over 15 weekly dance classes for those living with Parkinson's in multiple locations throughout the city of Toronto. In alignment with our core mission to bring seniors with PD out of isolation and into an artistic community where they can dance and connect with others, we've created a new online dance community!
NOTE: Our in-person classes are currently on hold while we practice social distancing. Please consider joining us online every day at 11am for free dance classes. All seniors of every age, stage and ability are welcome to join! Care partners are welcome but not necessary.
